Perrenial, dioecious plant;  stemacephalous, erect, conical, with distinct bi-lobes. Leaves strap-shaped, growing in a pair and having indeterminate growth through the activity of basal meristem located at the base of each leaf, up to 9 m long. Male plant bearing compound,  microsporangiate strobili; each strobilus ellipsoid, producing fused microsporangia, subtending by bracts and bracteoles.
